Our apologies we didn’t post this sooner. We were watching superheroes cause a lot of damage over international paper work. We know how that can go.
Last November details emerged from Mark Caplan, Sony Pictures VP of global consumer products about Ghostbusters merchandise that was to come (Ecto-Containment Blog Post, November 11, 2015) from Mattel. One of those intriguing items, a Ghostbusters board game.
With Ghostbusters (2016) about 2 months away from its theatrical release we now know more about Mattel Games Ghostbusters board game, Ghostbusters Protect The Barrier.
M&J Toys Inc., a die cast retailer put up a new product page for the upcoming Ghostbusters (2016) ECTO-1 and ECTO-2 from Mattel’s brand, Hot Wheels.
This Hot Wheels set is expected to be released in June 2016.

This weekend is Toy Fair New York. Or as most have called, including us New York Toy Fair. Quite of a few of our licensees are exhibiting our mutually beneficial wares. Our Ghostbusters franchise members have been in attendance to provide announcements and photos. Most have been taken by NYC Ghostbusters.

Retail Merchandiser writer Stephanie Crets has an article about upcoming Ghostbusters (2016) merchandise. We’ve previously written (more then once at times) about most of these items.
We hadn’t specifically written about some of the new merchandise or had seen photos until the past week. Continue reading
In November 2015 Sony Pictures VP of global consumer products, Mark Caplan talked about (Ghostbusters International Blog Post, November 11, 2015) Ghostbusters merchandise in the coming year. Naturally this includes the upcoming Ghostbusters 2016.
Figures from Mattel are forthcoming. Ghostheads didn’t quite know what the “new” team would like in toy form, until January 7, 2016.
Paul Feig, the director of Ghostbusters (2016) tweeted:
Our Mattel 6″ prototypes. #TheresGhostbusters
They were described as prototypes. I’m not quite sure what changes would need to be made, if any.

Brazilian Hot Wheels fan site, T-hunted has posted pictures of Mattel brand Hot Wheels Retro ECTO-1A. This small die cast ECTO-1A is probably a little more detailed then the one you might have had when you were 12. Also this still has all its paint on it. Continue reading
In early 2012 I bought a Matty Collector Ghost Trap from a seller within my state. I took un-boxing photos almost immediately, didn’t do much with them. The intent was to upload them to Ecto-Containment and around that time write a review. Whatever the reason prior to “Superstorm” (right) Sandy I sat on them.
The first week of November two years later I finally decided to work with those original pictures and add them to Ecto-Containment. The review still needed to be written. With my sense of humor I made it seem like we’d see that in 2016. Before the review I realized I needed more detailed pictures. I took a new series of photos, uploaded on November 9 and on November 10 wrote a review of my Matty Collector Ghost Trap, which has been published to Ecto-Containment.
The only prop toy I haven’t reviewed is their P.K.E Meter. I could see covering it by the end of 2014, I’ll see how that goes.

This past February I posted about Mattel/Hot Wheel’s 30th Anniversary ECTO-1 with figures. Which was barely close up and the item was in a case. Now Mattel has released some detailed pictures of what 1:18 ECTO-1 and especially these Ghostbusters figures will look like.
If Matty Collector, Mattel’s adult collector brand had never made more detailed 6 and 12 inch Ghostbusters figures within the last 5 years, these are passable for possibly static figures that are meant for display purposes. If these are the final production figures and they’re being compared to the stand alone figures, its easy to nitpick. Does anyone else feel like these could be knock offs of the $22/25 USD figures?
